New Mayor Elected on November 4th

Mayor Nancy DeBoer has called Holland home for 27 years & served on City Council for many years. She is married to Jim De Boer, a music teacher in Holland Public Schools and Hope College. Their children: Eric, Maria, and Jordan were all born at Holland Hospital and have enjoyed growing up in our beautiful, community-centered city. Nancy hopes to help the city as we encourage economic growth, increased cooperation with neighboring townships and cities, and continue to develop strong, safe neighborhoods.

Former Mayor Bob Vande Vusse was sworn into office on July 1, 2015 and took over as Mayor until the November general election to fill the vacated seat of Kurt Dykstra. He was previously Holland’s Mayor Pro-Tem from the 4th ward. Vande Vusse has been the 4th Ward councilman since 1991.

Former Mayor Kurt Dykstra served for over ten years in elected office in the City of Holland — as the Fifth Ward Councilmember (2005-09) and then as Holland’s 40th Mayor (2009-2015). Dykstra resigned his post to become the president of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. He also represented the City of Holland on the Holland Planning Commission, the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council, the West Michigan Regional Airport Authority, the Holland SmartZone Local Development Authority, and the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce.
