Diversity Rocks The Books

The Human Relations Commission launched a pilot project in March, Diversity Rocks the Books. The goal was to put diverse books in front of and into the hands of our students, to begin to create for them a world in which all children can see themselves in the pages of a book and to educate parents and teachers on the importance of bringing diverse books into the home and classroom environment.

The program reached 705 local students in 22 classrooms, involving 19 guest readers, and distributing 84 children's books featuring diverse main characters.
