Excellence in Financial Reporting
Holland, MI – The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GOFA) has announced that Holland, Michigan has received the GOFA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.
This award reflects a commitment of Holland and its Finance staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. “Michelle Price, Assistant Finance Director, deserves the most credit,” said Tim Vagle, Finance Director. In order to receive the budget award, Holland needed to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well Holland’s budget serves as: a policy document; a financial plan; an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be “proficient” in all four categories, and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
Holland has received this award annually since fiscal year 2003/04.
