Georgetown University Energy Prize Progress

$5 Million is at our fingertips! The City of Holland is in the final quarter of the Energy Prize competition.

Knock on Every Door Energy Efficiency Campaign

A Knock-On-Every-Door “Blitz” was initiated in June 2015 as a community energy awareness campaign and continued through spring of 2016 until every door in the community has been knocked-on. The project was created by City Manager Ryan Cotton as part of Holland’s efforts in the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition. Knock on Every Door also relates to Holland’s Community Energy Plan that aims to slash energy use while making Holland a national example of energy efficiency.

5,400 homes contacted through the mail and doors knocked on: 1,092 personal contacts at the front door; 565 registered for the NEST Drawing + LED bulb; and 518 LED light bulbs distributed with front door contact by Holland area at-promise youth who also gained valuable work experience.

Georgetown University Energy Prize Founder Recognizes Holland:

Dr. Francis Slakey was so impressed with our efforts to get the word out he sought permission to show some of the Knock on Every Door Energy Blitz videos to the Energy Efficiency Global Forum in 2016.
