Holland Brings Home Awards at America in Bloom Symposium

Winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award for Environmental Efforts. This is the sixth (out of six!) consecutive year that Holland has been recognized for Outstanding Achievement in one of the six criteria evaluated by America in Bloom judges, and the second time being recognized in the Environmental Efforts Category. Previous recognition was for Tidiness (now called Overall Impression) in 2011, Environmental Efforts in 2012, Historic Preservation in 2013, and Floral Display in 2014 and 2015.

Surprise Award for Coolest Downtown. Each year, America in Bloom designates award categories that are not known to the participating communities in advance. Holland was nominated by one of the AIB judges who visited our community in July, and was obviously delighted with the overall impression and wonderful amenities of Downtown Holland.

The City of Holland was also the recipient of a 5-bloom rating, the highest possible under the judges' evaluation system, and received special mention for its landscaped areas. Again, this is the sixth consecutive year Holland has received a 5-bloom rating.

Holland competed in the Champions Category - Mid-Sized Cities, with Arroyo Grande, California, Fairhope, Alabama, and Washington, Missouri. The Champions Category is an elite category for communities that have won three population and/or outstanding achievement awards over the years, and all of the cities in this category scored high on the judges’ evaluations. We extend our congratulations to this year’s winner: Washington, Missouri.
